Welcome to the Barrens

This post marks several big things. For starters, I am now a resident of Green Bay. I’ll cover more about the pros and cons of this later.
Secondly, this post is also important because it’s somewhat of a milestone. This is the 500th post of Jaker’s Blog. That’s alot of posting. That’s alot of words. That’s alot of internet corruption. Booyah. If you’re reading this, I thank you. It’s because of you, dear reader, that I keep posting my ramblings and rants on the wide medium we call the internet. Props to you.
Now back to Green Bay. Now that I’ve been up here for awhile, I’ve been able to get a feel for things. I’ve since compiled a list of what Green Bay sucks or excels in:

Radio Stations Probably Green Bay’s greatest pro would be the one single decent radio station (94.7) that has made it to preset 1 in my car and has been playing almost non-stop in the apartment (at least before we got internet and cable). While sometimes it does play some slightly heavier stuff, 90% of the time it plays some quality music that’s new and older music that was ripped away from us back in Milwaukee years ago.
Water/Air Quality Sorry, but this gets a big fat no. The air that I breathe and the water I drink get high priority on the “I expect these to meet or exceed my expectations” list. Yet they don’t. The air I didn’t realize until I drove back to Milwaukee yesterday. When I arrived, I got out of my car and realized that the air smelled better, cleaner, tastier. I didn’t think you could really taste a difference in air, but there it was.
As for the water, I’m not a fan. The second day we were up here I filled up a glass with water and noticed little white flake things floating around. We had just installed a PUR water purifier, so I thought perhaps it was that. It wasn’t until a cup turned right-side-up in the dishwasher and formed a deposit of white flake stuff on the bottom that I realized that it wasn’t the purifier, but just Green Bay water.

I suppose we’ll leave it at those two for now. Mostly because I can’t think of anything else quite yet.

At any rate, I have my internet and cable back, so all is well. Perhaps if the Hellscream que would hurry it up a bit I could log into WoW and help Jon with some quests…

More Green Bay news to come,

~Jaker
