Fancy Little Popups
Horray for fancy new features! Now whenever I post a URL here on the blog, hovering over it will show you a thumbnail of what you’re about to see.
Examples:
Google
Species Revenge
Facebook
Gentoo
As always, there’s a few exceptions:
(1) IE users probably won’t see these popups will find these popups in weird places. IE7beta3 users can find the popup at the bottom of the screen.. There’s a bug somewhere. It should work–the code supports you guys. I just need to figure out what’s wrong.
(2) Super-long URL’s (such as the link to motomodders in a previous post) will not work. Again, it’s just another bug that needs ironing out. This may be fixed because b2evo will automatically create href tags for a link, even if it’s already inside a href tag.
Want the code? Think you can figure out why the heck this won’t work in IE? Check out the source and a demo at lab.arc90.com/2006/07/link_thumbnail.php. You can see in the demo page that it works with IE…
Enjoy, and let me know if you run into any problems. We’re still “beta testing”
(sigh..now I’ve turned into everyone else on the web. I thought beta was cool way before everyone else did. And the 3.0 in my blog? Totally my idea. Way before that whole Web 2.0 stuff. And my blog is 3-point-0. Not 3-dot-0 like the rest of the web likes to use. Blame it on the marketing and PR departments…)
