I was watching some TV earlier and came across another one of those Sprite advertisements. It was the ad where the guy is watering these flowers that sing whenever they are sprayed with this Sprite-plant-watering mixture. I’ve seen only a couple of these ads, and I find the commercials rather interesting because there’s a lot of visual information in a very short period of time. This time when I was watching I noticed the “DVR Ready” text at the bottom of the screen at the beginning of the commercial. Intrigued, I took my handy-dandy Media Center remote and carefully freeze-framed my way through the commercial looking for any oddities. Other than seeing a lot of interesting pictures that your mind wouldn’t otherwise be able to process when played at normal speed, I didn’t see anything. Until I almost reached the end. At the segment where you see the guy with a flame thrower firing at what seems to be a pile of marshmallows I saw something on the screen. It said Code ***** (I won’t tell you, you’ll have to find out for yourself). I took this code, went to the Sprite website and typed it in, only to discover that I earned myself a free ringtone. Pretty cool I suppose, but that was a decent amount of work for just a two second ringtone (it’s basically a sound effect from the commercials). Maybe I’ll use it for my voicemail sound.
Now that I’ve confirmed that there really is some sublymonal messages in these ads, I’ll have to pay closer attention to them…

Update: Watched another commercial, got another odd ringtone. Did some research and found out that all of those commercials have a code in it somewhere. Yes, there are some spoiler sites out there that list all the codes, but it’s a lot more fun to find them yourself…
