Dell has a fancy little tool called “Estimated Ship Date” whenever you purchase something from them. In my long history of purchasing from Dell (and from many stories from others), no one has ever had to wait until the actual estimated ship date for the purchased equipment to ship.

That was true until today.

Dell has finally shipped the laptop. Here’s the painful details:

What this now means is I have switched modes from “Checking the Dell site every day to only see “In Production,” cursing Dell under my breath when I didn’t get an email in the morning telling me it had shipped” to “Checking the shipping website on a bi-hourly schedule, likely knowing the status of the shipment better than the shipment company in the first place, and cursing under my breath every time the shipment was redirected incorrectly.”
